What this campaign type does

A text testimonial collects a written response from a customer in exchange for an optional reward. Each campaign supports exactly one text testimonial setup, which lives in the Strategy tab under the Testimonials category alongside the video testimonial.

The marketer writes the prompt and the response rules. The submitter sees a guided collection page that captures a star rating, a name, an email, and the written response. Approved submissions land in the Proof Library automatically.

Use this guide when setting up a new campaign’s text testimonial or adjusting an existing one.

Setup fields

Open a campaign, go to the Strategy tab, and select the Testimonials category. In the left panel pick Text Testimonial. The right panel holds the form. The fields, top to bottom, are:

  1. Display Heading: the heading the customer sees on the collection page.
  2. Question Shown to Users: the main prompt the customer answers in their written response.
  3. Detailed Questions (optional): a multi-line text area for sub-prompts that help the customer think through their answer. Each non-empty line becomes one bullet on the collection page. Empty is a valid configuration.
  4. Minimum Characters: the shortest acceptable response length.
  5. Maximum Characters: the longest acceptable response length. Minimum cannot be greater than maximum.
  6. Reward Configuration: the same reward type and value pattern used elsewhere in the campaign.

Save the form to apply the configuration. The text testimonial can be activated or paused independently of the video testimonial on the same campaign.

How detailed questions are rendered to submitters

The Detailed Questions field is free-form text. The collection page treats each non-empty line as one bullet under the main question.

  • A blank line is ignored.
  • A line with only whitespace is ignored.
  • Order is preserved exactly as typed.
  • The bullets are shown as a “Try answering” list and act as guidance only. The submitter is not asked to answer each bullet in its own field; they write a single combined response.

If Detailed Questions is empty, the collection page shows only the main question and skips the bullet block entirely.

What submitters see

When a customer opens the campaign and picks the text path, the collection page asks for, in order:

  1. A star rating from 1 to 5. Required.
  2. Their name. Required.
  3. Their email. Required.
  4. The main question from Question Shown to Users.
  5. The optional bullet guidance from Detailed Questions, rendered as a “Try answering” list.
  6. A text response field where they type the testimonial. Character count is shown against the Minimum and Maximum configured.

The submitter cannot submit until the rating, name, email, and a response within the character limits are all present.

Validation rules

A new text testimonial submission must pass all of the following before it can be sent for review:

  • Star rating is present and between 1 and 5.
  • Submitter name is not empty.
  • Submitter email is not empty.
  • The response length is at least the configured Minimum Characters.
  • The response length is at most the configured Maximum Characters.

If any rule fails, the collection page surfaces an inline validation message next to the field that needs attention and the submit action stays disabled.

Preview and test

Before a campaign goes live, use the collection page link to walk through the text path yourself:

  1. Open the campaign’s public collection URL.
  2. Pick the text testimonial option.
  3. Submit a test response that meets every validation rule.
  4. Confirm the bullets under the main question match what you typed in Detailed Questions, in the same order.
  5. Confirm the character counter behaves as expected against Minimum and Maximum.

Test submissions go through the same review queue as real ones, so reject them after confirming the configuration.

Where text testimonials show up after submission

After a submitter sends a text testimonial, it appears in the campaign’s submissions list as a pending item. From there:

  • A reviewer opens the submission detail view, which shows the star rating, submitter name, email, date, and the full text response.
  • Once approved, the testimonial moves into the Proof Library on the next load.
  • In the Proof Library, the written testimonial card shows the testimonial text directly, plus the campaign, submitter, approval date, and star rating. A Copy action makes it easy to reuse the quote elsewhere.

Rejected submissions stay on the campaign and do not appear in the Proof Library.
